Time Saving Tip: Trip bundling

The first way to save time is to bundle your trips to a similar area. For example, you have to go to the grocery store on Saturday, and you also want to meet up with a couple friends on separate occasions. One lives near the grocery store, and the other lives in another part of town. If you had the choice, schedule to meet the friend that lives near the grocery store right before or after your grocery stop trip. That way, you save the time of making two separate trips: getting prepared to leave the house, and the time to drive there and back.

If getting prepared to leave the house takes you 20 minutes and driving takes you 20 minutes, to and fro means 40 minutes. Altogether, you save an hour if you bundle your two trips (grocery store and meeting friend that lives near grocery store).

I use this trip bundling strategy often. If I have to go downtown to meet someone, I try to book another meeting with someone else on the same trip. It takes me about 30 minutes one way to get downtown, on top of getting prepared to leave the house. By bundling multiple meetings, I save over an hour than if I make two trips at two different times to meet two different people.

Using this method, you can save at least 1 hour a week.

I am Surprised how Popular my Books are (Over 400+ downloads in a day)

I am completely surprised at how popular my books are. Here are the results. There are links to my 2 free books on Amazon below. 4 hours remaining, so hurry and download if you haven’t already!

Day 1 (Sat, Dec 19)

Goal: 100 downloads
Results: 106 downloads (***NEW RECORD***)

I was just aiming to hit 100 downloads in a day. I achieved it with 106 downloads .

Day 2 (Sun, Dec 20)

Goal: 100 downloads
Results: 138 downloads (***NEW RECORD***)

Day 2 surprised me even further. In the past, my downloads dropped after Day 1. Day 2 finished with 138 downloads.

Day 3 (Mon, Dec 21)

Goal: 20 downloads
Results: 159 downloads (***NEW RECORD***)

I had no expectations. I expected downloads to decrease to nearly zero (if I got 20 I’d be happy) as that is what happened in the past when I had promotions on Mondays. On this Monday, I was blown away when there were 159 downloads.

Day 4

Goal: 150 downloads
Results: 183 downloads (***NEW RECORD***)

Day 4 was yesterday, Christmas Day. I’ve never done a book promotion on a holiday, and didn’t know what to expect. Christmas Day finished with 183 downloads.

Day 5

Goal: 200 downloads
Results: 400+ downloads (***NEW RECORD***)

Day 5 is today, Boxing Day. I was surprised that before noon there were already over 130+ downloads. I set an ambitious goal of 200 downloads. By 5pm, there were over 275+ downloads. Now, it’s 7:30pm. I checked and hoped there were 300 downloads. I was blown away when I saw 365 downloads. Can I dare dream to hit 400 downloads in a single day?

How I Wrote and Published 10 Books

I started writing at a young age. Growing up in Canada, since Grade 2 in elementary school we had Creative Writing class. I remember writing detective stories when I was only in Grade 2 and really enjoyed the creative writing process.

I remember when I was in Grade 9 high school, our English class teacher had us write journal for 10 minutes or so each class. She said we had to keep writing continuously. If we didn’t know what to write, we had to continue writing “I don’t know what to write. I don’t know what to write,” until we can think of something to write about.

I’ve been writing blog articles for over 10 years. In 2004, a friend introduced me to Xanga, a blog website. I really enjoyed writing articles on Xanga, especially on the things I studied in university and life. I studied interesting subjects such as Science, Food & Nutrition, Psychology, Philosophy, and enjoyed writing on those subjects.

In 2007, I joined Facebook, and continued writing articles on Facebook like I had previously done on Xanga. I was surprised how many people liked my posts by giving me a Facebook “thumb up”. I’d write about everything from life to travels to work to networking experiences to things I’ve read in books, and many other topics.

Then I discovered I can reach a worldwide audience through self-publishing on Amazon. It was like a dream come true! I’ve always dreamed of writing and publishing my own books, and my dream was becoming a reality!

My first book, “How to Increase Confidence and Succeed in Meeting People” was a short book on networking. I didn’t really have much expectation and didn’t really know what to expect when I published it on Amazon. I was surprised people actually downloaded my book and left positive reviews.

I learned that writing and finishing the book was only the beginning. There is a whole different process of book promotion that comes after the book is published. I spent the past month basically teaching myself Internet Marketing to promote my books. Even though I have a MBA degree I had no knowledge and no experience of promoting my books when I started. Now I start to see the results from what I’ve learned watching videos and reading how others have succeeded in marketing their books.

Throughout this learning process I’ve tweaked and modified my processes over and over and over again. I’ve made lots of mistakes and fixed them. There’s still a lot of things for me to learn, but I’m having a lot of fun and enjoy every moment of it!

Why I love Hootsuite

I typed this post up and posted on WordPress using Hootsuite, not on the WordPress website.

I simply love Hootsuite because it allows me to manage my different social media all in one convenient location.

In today’s social media heavy world, people use many platforms: Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, LinkedIN, Pinterest, etc. It takes so much time to navigate between these different sites.

Thankfully Hootsuite allows the user to manage these many different social media in one location. Thanks Hootsuite team!
